Interview with Mia Yim after her tour of Japan

Recently, Mr Main Event BDuB had the pleasure of catching up with Mia Yim after her recent tour of Japan. Check out what she had to say.

MEBD: What would you say was your favorite match throughout your trip in Japan, and why?
MY: It would have to be my Revenge match against Hiroyo Matsumoto or my second to last match there again Ray. Only because both were very hard hitting and seemed like an equal fight. I felt like we both gave our all in the match and you can truly tell.

MEBD: I noticed on your fan page that you sustained your first wrestling injury, exactly how did that occur?
MY: I was practicing a Top Rope Moonsault. I overshot the crash pad and stubbed (Hyperflexion) my toe on the mat upon impact.

MEBD: How would you compare the fans reaction to you in Japan to the reactions in the United States?
MY: The fans, both in Japan and US, respect us. In Japan, they shower us with streamers and even give us gifts. The fans in Japan are quiet and observe the wrestling. It is eerie the first time but I enjoy it. Easier to concentrate on the match rather than a noisy crowd.

MEBD: With your upcoming return trips to Japan, and ring of honors recently television deal, will fans here in the United States ever get to see you on TV?
MY: I think fans will be able to see me on TV but with ROH, I am only a manager so I don’t think you get to see me wrestle much. In Japan, I was on Samurai TV a few times that shows clips of me wrestling. I haven’t seen it but I was told I was on TV haha.

MEBD: The last time we talked, we discussed the moonsault, did you get many opportunities to perfect it on this trip?
MY: I got to practice the moonsault many times in Japan. I executed it to the outside twice during my trip. It is still rare to see me do a moonsault at all though. So don’t get use to me doing it much haha.
MEBD: Since you have been touring Japan, what would you say has been your biggest improvements?
MY: My biggest improvements…everything. I think my whole wrestling ability and skill has gotten stronger. I got to work on my kicks, work on some lucha, work on some chaining and reversals. I think in general, everything has improved.

MEBD: How did this trip differ from the last?
I was here for a month in a half, rather than last time I was only there for two weeks. Being here for a longer period, I got to get a lot more accomplished. I met a lot of new people, I trained at Zero1, I got to wrestle different joshi stars.

MEBD: What do you plan to do differently on the next trip?
MY: I don’t know yet

MEBD: When you was not training, or performing, what did you do to pass the time in Japan?
MY: I would do P90X/Insanity in my room. Hang out with Hailey Hatred and Luscious Latasha. Go out on dates. SHOPPING!!!

MEBD: The situation is, you have two opportunities, to wrestle in Japan, or wrestle in the WWE and be in the Divas championship match, where does Mia Yim go and why?
MY: Wrestle in Japan. Why? Because I get to actually WRESTLE. I am respected for my wrestling and it is taken seriously in Japan.

MEBD: 2011 has been really good to you, what do you have planned for 2012?
MY: 2012, I plan to get my IT Degree. Once I get that, I plan to pack my stuff and move to Japan to wrestle full time. Hopefully make a name in Japan ^.^

Real Championship Wrestling T3 Highlights (Baltimore, MD)

Last night I had the pleasure of attending Real Championship Wrestling in Baltimore and it as a great event. Independent wrestling is great because you really feel like you are apart of the show. You see the wrestlers improve their craft right in front of your eyes, and then if they decide to advance their careers into the WWE then you can really see where they started and all their hard work pay off. I been attending independent wrestling since 2006, and immediately I feel in love. I have been a fan of this business since I was born so anytime I get to see two individuals lock up in the squared-circle, it is always a treat.
My first show was Maryland Championship Wrestling's  2006 Shamrock Memorial Cup. On this night I had the pleasure of watching a man who would become one of my favorite wrestlers on the indy scene, Ruckus, become the winner. On this night I had the pleasure of meeting TNA's (now known as Impact Wrestling) own  Chris Saban and Petey Williams.

Since then, I have been trying to attend as many shows as I can.
On Saturday June 4, 2011, I had the pleasure of attending Real Championship Wrestling  T3, the Anniversary Show in Baltimore, MD. This was a night full of action and breath taking moments. I will highlight some of the nights biggest matches:

Mia Yim defeated Kimber Lee.

This match was booked as Mia Yim taking on a mystery opponent. At the previous show Supremacy, Yim wrestled Sara Del Rey in a classic match in which she just fell short. I knew coming into this match she would be looking to redeem herself. It should also be noted that she had just came from a tour in Japan for REINA.She said she learned a lot in Japan and could not wait to go back. In this match she really took control of Lee. During the match, Yim use a great deal of submission moves and was able to finish Lee with the "Kick Me Goodnight" to obtain the victory. This being the second match on the card really helped set the pace for the show.

BLK OUT defeats Adam Flash and Ryan McBride

The beginning of the match was delayed because Robby Mireno wanted to fight everyone fan in the audience. He really drew a lot of heat from the crowd. Once the match got started, we saw a great display of wrestling from the veterans of the business. In the end, it was Saban holding down the foot of Adam Flash from the outside while Mireno was able to score the victory. After the match, Flash and McBride attacked both Mireno and Saban.

Christian York defeats Azrieal to retain the RCW World Championship via DQ

Another great display of in ring ability by two veterans. There were many points in which I thought that there would be a new champion crowned, but the "York Daddy" would not allow it. Sitting from the left side of the ring, I noticed this masked individual standing beside the wall out of no where and before I knew it, he was in the ring attacking the Champion, and the ref immediately called for the bell.

Derek Frazier defeats Ruckus in a Last Man Standing Match

This was an epic grudge match. This was the first time the two faced each other in a one-on-one match since 2006. The stipulations going into this match was if Ruckus wins, Frazier retires, if Frazier wins, BLK OUT must disband. Ruckus entered the ring with BLK OUT and two masked individuals. Followed by that, Adam Flash, Ryan McBride along with three people dressed in Derek Frazier attire. As the teams began fighting, one of the individuals who came out with BLK OUT took off his mask and turned out to be the real Derek Frazier. These two took it to each other all around the ring side. As Frazier was gaining momentum, Chrissy from BLK OUT arrived to the ring and began to attack him. Immediately, Mia Yim would arrive to the ring to make it a level playing field. Ruckus and Chrissy agreed they had had enough and began to make their way back to the locker room. As the walked back, they were greeted by the entire RCW locker room and this match would become a lumberjack match. In the end it was Derek Frazier hitting Ruckus with multiple impact drivers and Ruckus would not be able to get up before the referee reach the count of 10. Frazier had finally got his revenge on Ruckus and BLK OUT and the entire locker room was in the ring celebrating.

Mia Yim Interview

Mia Yim is an up and coming wrestler on the independent scene. She is based out of Northern Virginia and she is also a full time student. I had the pleasure of seeing her wrestle Sara Del Rey on April 23 at RCW Supremacy. I was able to catch up with her to do an interview, check it out.

1.       How long have you been wrestling

I have been wrestling for about a year in a half now. 

2.       Who have been some wrestlers that you idolized growing up?

Growing up, I have always been a Lita fan. Her badass attitude and different style stood out to me 

3.       Who is your wrestler favorite now?

Now, my favorite wrestlers are Kana and Low Ki 

4.       What was your favorite match that you have been in?

I have alot of favorite. I would say that my Shimmer match with me & Jamilia Craft v. Daizee Haze & Tomoka Nakagawa and my recent match at RCW with Sara Del Rey are the top on the list

5.       Do you preferred to be cheered or booed?

Really depends if I'm feeling like a good girl or a bitch :) 

6.       Who is your dream opponent?

Hmmm dream opponent..I would love to wrestle my idol, Kana.  

7       What has been your most memorable moment your career so far?

I have lots of memorable moments, most of them are with the friends I made in the business though. I will never ever forget the people I have met and the impact they have brought to my life.  

8.      Where would you like to see your career elevate to?

I would love to work for the WWE, but as of now, I am happy with where I am now. I also would love to go wrestle in Japan or Mexico one day.  

9.        Have you  ever thought about being on tough enough?

I thought about it, and I put my education first. When I finish school and they do another Tough Enough competition, I would def try to get on it

10.      How do you manage your professional career and personal life?

Great time management. I have to prioritize alot. I make sure wrestling is on the weekends. From Mon-Friday i concentrate on school work. I always have holidays and breaks from school to train as much as I can. 

 11.     Anything in particular you want to say to your fans?
