NFL Week 6 Predictions (Current Record 51-27)

San Francisco at Detroit  49ers  (U)
St. Louis at Green Bay  Packers
 Carolina at Atlanta  Falcons
Indianapolis at Cincinnati  Colts
 Buffalo at NY Giants  Giants
Jacksonville at Pittsburgh Steelers
 Philadelphia at Washington  Eagles
 Houston at Baltimore Ravens  (L)
 Cleveland at Oakland  Raiders
 Dallas at New England Patriots
New Orleans at Tampa Bay  Saints
Minnesota at Chicago  Vikings
 Miami at NY Jets  Jets

When two New York teams are in a faceoff, everyone usually looks forward to the Giants and Jets. However, with the Bills playing their best football since the early 90s, anytime they step foot on the gridiron is speaks ratings. The Bills are red hot with a huge win over the Patriots this year, but with the Giants angry after losing a week ago to the Seahawks, and the Redskins playing good football, Tom Coughlin knows that the Giants cannot afford to lose this game.

Interview with Gregory Iron

Recently, Mr Main Event BDuB had the honor of speaking with Gregory Iron. Iron is a professional wrestler who suffers with cerebral palsy. His big moment recently occurred when then WWE Champion CM Punk attended AAW in Chicago to pay his respects to the "handicapped hero."
MEBD When did your grandmom introduce you to pro wrestling?
GI: My earliest memories of watching wrestling with my grandma was probably around 3 or 4.
MEBD . What was the one match that you remember with her the most?

GI: The matches from Wrestlemania VI and VII, with Hulk Hogan, are always the first that come to mind.
MEBD . Who was your favorite wrestler growing up?

GI: .Hulk Hogan was my dude. I loved a lot of the babyfaces of the early 90's WWF... Savage, Hart, Roberts, Razor, etc.
MEBD . Who is your favorite wrestler today?
GI: I guess the perfect answer for favorite wrestlers today would be Colt and Punk! haha! But honestly, on WWE tv, my "Fave Five" if you will, would be something like Daniel Bryan, Christian, CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, and Cody RhodesMEBD . What do you think about the state of professional wrestling today?
GI:  I don't think its as strong as it once was, due to MMA. But I feel like WWE is one good storyline away from making wrestling hot again. I guess we will have to see!
MEBD . You mentioned in your recent interview with Aftermath Radio, that your mom battled drug and alcohol addiction, how hard was it deal with that coupled with your condition?
GI:  It was hard. Anybody whos ever dealt with someone whose into drugs can understand the difficulties. To not really know your real mom, and to basically watch her slowly kill herself in front of you is very hard.
MEBD . You stated that you did not mind heels making fun of your condition in order to draw heat, has there ever been a time that someone really got under your skin?
GI: . Nope. In real life, it would be bothersome. But in wrestling, making fun of the guy with the disability is like the perfect way to generate heat.
MEBD . Have you had the opportunity to meet Zach Gowen? What was your favorite match of his?
GI: I have actually met Zach several times. He is someone I consider a friend, and we have even gotten the opportunity to tag up. My favorite match of his is, suprisingly, with Vince McMahon. That was a war!
MEBD . Who was your greatest opponent?
GI:.Johnny Gargano. Johnny is without a doubt one of the best indy wrestlers today, and its only a matter of time before a major oganization signs him.
MEBD . What has been the highlight of your career thus far?
GI:  The moment with CM Punk and Cabana was huge. But two other great moments I had was against Gargano in a Last Man Standing Match (2008), and with Lince Dorado in my Chikara debut (2010). After both of those matches, in defeat, I recieved a standing ovation. For a guy who never thought he could wrestle, they were pretty overwhelming moments.
MEBD . Did your grandmother know you were going to become a wrestler? If so what was her opinion?
GI: She didn't know, because I didn't!!
MEBD . Who was her favorite?
GI:  Hulk, hence why when she passed, I placed a Hulk Hogan Hasbro action figurein her casket
MEBD . Which current or former wrestler has given you the best advice?
GI: An e-mail from J.J. Dillion always comes to mind. He has a son with c.p., and he watched some of my work. He wrote me and basically said, I don't know how far you can take this because of your size, but I hope that one day, you can look back and see that you got to live out moments that most people only dream about. That always stuck with me.
MEBD . You indicated that you would never be Steve Austin or Kurt Angle, but with the WWE in a "real era" and coupled with their Bullying Campaign, many would say that this could be your time, what could you do that has not been done before?
GI: I think my overall character is something unique and different. My story isn't somethingthat was thought of... its real. I think in wrestling, the most successful men, matches, and moments, were those that felt real. I think Gregory Iron is a guy that anybody can get behind, and its a story that trancends wrestling.
MEBD  Which promotions are you currently wrestling for?
GI: .I currently wrestle regularly for PWO in Ohio, Absolute Intense Wrestling, AAW in Chicago, and Chikara Pro, who actually has an upcoming iPPV on November 13th, at GFL,tv.
MEBD . How can people contact you for bookings?
GI: I accept bookings at facebook.com/thehandicappedhero, or at gregory_iron@yahoo.com.
MEBD  What was it like meeting CM Punk, have you spoken with him any more?
GI: . Very surreal meeting CM Punk. He is a guy I look up to and admire. Great dude. Though we spoke for like twenty minutes that day, I haven't talked with him since.
MEBD What is your ultimate goal in this business?
GI: Three letters: WWE.
MEBD: Have you spoken with any children who may struggle with the same thing
GI:  I am thankful that, on a regular basis, I get tons of e-mails and messages from people young, old, disabled, not disabled, white, black, yellow.... that can relate to my story. I am happy that the things I have been through can help somebody deal with problems in their own live.

NFL Week 5 Predictions (Current Record 43-22)

Cincinnati at Jacksonville  Bengals
New Orleans at Carolina  Panthers (U)

Tampa Bay at San Francisco 49ers (L)
NY Jets at New England  Patriots
San Diego at Denver  Chargers
Green Bay at Atlanta  Falcons
Chicago at Detroit  Lions

(L) Lock of the week
(U) Upset of the week
If this match-up would have taken place five years ago, it may be the lowest rated Monday Night Football game of the season. However, this year, the team that normally would be on the recipient end of a huge blowout. But in 2011, things are different. This team is 4-0. The team, the Detroit Lions. The Lions have not had this excitement since the days Barry Sanders were running the most entertaining one yard runs, or even dancing his way 50 yards into a touchdown. Today The Lions are a new breed.Led by Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson, they are one most feared teams in the league. When playing these guys, no lead is safe. In week four, they were down to the Cowboys 27-3, and it seemed that they would lose their first game of the season. However, they did not give up,and it was the Stafford-Johnson connection that would send make the Lions 4-0. This week, they take on the Chicago Bears, a division rival. With the Lions hosting their first Monday Night football game in years, this will be a very emotional game and the Lions will look to capitalize.

Yokozuna, Setting the path for the Samoan family.

The day was April 4, 1993. I was in church all day anticipating what would be the first WrestleMania that my parents would order for me. The main event, my favorite wrestler, Bret The Hitman Hart taking on his biggest challenge to date, a 500 pound Japanese Sumo wrestler. At that time, I did not know that he was actually Samoan. I knew that this would be a challenge for my favorite wrestler. All I heard was Bobby "the Brain" Heenan stating, "How is he going be able to execute the sharpshooter?" The question that was on mind all day, would Bret Hart be able to retain his World Wrestling Federation title against the mighty Yokozuna?

As the night went on, I knew that the Hitman's title was in jeopardy. It was later revealed that he had been attack by Narcissist Lex Luger the night before. Luger, who had a metal plate in his arm hit Hart with a running forearm.  WrestleMania IX was live at Ceaser's Palace in Las Vegas Nevada and it was the first outside. As time drew closer to the main event, the sun began to set, and many said, it was beginning to set on Bret Hart's title reign.

So it is time for the main event. As the 500 pound Royal Rumble winner approaches the ring, there are two Japanese ladies that await him in the ring with a dozen of roses each. As apart of his in ring entrance, they bow to him and hand him the roses and he takes them and toss them into the audience.

As the hitman approaches the ring, he is confident as always. Remember, he is Stu Hart's child. Growing up in  the dungeon is no easy task. As he enters the ring, and removes the strap from his waist, he gives it his traditional kiss. Before the hitman goes into battle, he removes his sunshades and gives them to a lucky child sitting in the front row.

Now it is time for the match. A weeks prior, during the official contract signing, Yokozuna made a statement by delivering a Bonzai drop onto the champ. From that day, everyone knew that it was just a matter of time.  As the match began, Yokozuna's awareness would be tested by Hart's speed and agility. But it was power maneuvers that he would use to slow down the champ. Even though he was billed from Japan, this match met a lot for the Samoan family, as this was the time for one of their own to win the biggest prize in professional wrestling.

The hitman was able to withstand the punishment to a man that he was giving up nearly 300 pounds to. As the clouds began to settle over Ceasers Palace, it had to be a matter of time before Yokozuna could turn things back in his favor. Hart, who was never known as a dirty wrestler had to do whatever it took take down this giant. As he had Yokozuna in the corner, he began to pummel on the head nearly ten times. As the ref count reached closer to ten, it was Yokozuna beginning to pull him from the corner, but he had a struggle. Hart held onto the turnbuckle padding until it was ripped off which left nothing but exposed steel.

With the steel off, that could only mean trouble for one of these great superstars. As Yokozuna attempted to ram Hart's face into the corner, it was countered and the massive Samoan was left on the ground face first. This gave the Hart the opportunity to attempt the unthinkable. Hart went to the feet of Yokozuna and lifted his legs up with every bit of energy he had and executed the sharpshooter.

So many things ran through my mind at the time. Could Bret Hart walk out of Las Vegas with his WWF Championship, all we need is a tap out. Even a 500 pounder could not withstand the pain of his hamstring being stretched. There was one problem. The man who perhaps would receive the second biggest pay day if Hart loses the title was standing at ringside. Mr Fuji, reaches in his bucket as he had done on many occasions before and tossed a grain of salt into the eyes of Bret Hart. As Hart released the hold, this allowed Yokozuna to change the perception of Samoan wrestlers forever. He would cover him and become the new World Wrestling Federation Champion!

On this night, Yokozuna's celebration was cut short after Hulk Hogan arrived to the aid of Bret Hart was challenged by Mr Fuji. Hogan would win the title, but Yokozuna would regain the title in June at King of the Ring.

As a five year old, it is only common to root for the good guy and boo the bad guy. When Yokozuna would become a face nearly two years later, he became one of my favorites.

While he was billed as a Japanese wrestler, Yokozuna opened the door for Samoan wrestlers to be in the main event. Yokozuna left us too soon, but his legacy lives on in his family. On Saturday October 1, The Wrestling Wrealm and Tha Best Damn Show had the honor of attending a memorial show at WXWC4 provided to us The Headshrinkers, Fatu (Rikishi) and Samu.

Ravens Eat the Jets before Takeoff

As the temperatures in Baltimore dropped below 50 degree, so would Mark Sanchez QB rating, as he finished with a 30.5 finishing up 11 for 35 with 119 yards and an interception that was returned for a touchdown by Lardarius Webb as the Ravens (3-1) defeat the New York Jets (2-2) 34-17.

On the Jets first possession of the game, Sanchez would drop back for his routine pass, only to find the ball being knocked out of his hands by the future Hall of Famer Ed Reed, and returned by Jameel McClain for the touchdown.

Sanchez would also find himself unable to handle the pigskin, as he fumbled the ball four times, three of which was lost, and two returned for a touchdowns. (Mcclain and Jarrett Johnson) This is certainly a game that he would like to forget.

Joe Flacco did not do much better. He was 10 for 31, for 163 yards, with an interception that was also returned for a touchdown. He finished with a QB rating of 37.4.

The Ravens would get some offense from their running game, as Ray Rice (66) and Ricky Williams (49) combined for 115 rushing yards. Rice would score the Ravens only offensive touchdown.

For the Ravens this game was all about their defense. They scored a franchised record three touchdowns. Throughout the night, the defense was aggressive, hitting Sanchez 10 times, and forcing three fumbles

The Ravens go into the bye week as the sole owner of first place in the AFC North. When they return from the bye week, they will face the red hot Houston Texans who defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-10.

WWE Hell in a Cell 2011 Results.

John Cena goes to Hell, the sub theme of tonight's pay-per-view. At the end of the night, he went to hell and was put out of hell as a new WWE Champion was crowned.

Hell in a Cell was not the best pay-per-view of the year, but it was not the worse either.

Sheamus defeats Christian
Opening up with Christian and Sheamus I thought was a very good idea. This was not a match that I was necessarily interested in seeing, but its one of those get it out the way matches. It was not too long, bro kick and Sheamus wins. Someone tweeted that Christian will probably state, one more match, that will be interesting.

Sin Cara defeats Sin Cara II
This match should was much better since they are no longer wearing the same ring attire. At first I was bored with it, but they gained momentum in the end and it was the original Sin Cara standing up for the victory.

Air-Boom defeats Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler to retain the WWE Tag team Titles
Personally, I thought this match was nothing special. At one point, I thought that Ziggler and Swagger would get the titles, but personally I think it makes sense to keep them around Air-Boom. I rather see them lose the titles to a more established tag team.

Mark Henry defeats Randy Orton to retain the World Heavyweight Championship
In the first of two Hell in A Cell matches, Randy Orton gave Mark Henry everything he had. The two went inside and out the ring, and when Orton realized the RKO would not be enough, he had a confused look in his eyes. When he attempted to go for the punt that had previously won him world titles, it was Mark Henry intercepting him for the World Strongest Slam to retain the World title. After the match, Henry attempted to destroy Orton's ankle, but Orton would counter it and beat Henry with the chair continuously.

Cody Rhodes defeats John Morrison to retain the Intercontinental Championship
Before this impromptu match, Cody Rhodes revealed a brand new Intercontinental Title. He returned to the white belt that was once worn by Shawn Michaels and the Ultimate Warrior. Rhodes unexpected to perform was not ready for this match and many times throughout the match, he attempted to get himself counted out, but when forced to get back in the ring, Rhodes carefully picked his spots and gained the victory.

Beth Phoenix defeats Kelly Kelly to win the Divas Championship
After losing to Kelly Kelly at Summerslam and Night of Champions, Beth Phoenix knew that it was now or never. Throughout the match, Kelly Kelly used her speed as she did in her two victories. But with Natalya being in Beth Phoenix corner, we knew it would be a matter of time for her to get involved, especially since she has been a victim also. When the opportunity presented itself, Natalya hit Kelly Kelly with the "pipe-bomb" after she harassed her while she was on the receiving end of a submission move. This would allow Phoenix to execute the glam slam and win the Divas Championship.

Alberto Del Rio defeats John Cena and CM Punk to win the WWE Championship
After losing the WWE Championship two weeks ago, many thought that Alberto Del Rio was just a fluke. In tonight's match, Del Rio proved otherwise. Throughout the match, Del Rio was the target. However, he got a chair and used that to his advantage. When that was taken from him, his ring announcer would get involved and open the door and provide him with a pipe and the keys to the cell. After Del Rio received the keys, he locked Cena out of the cell, and beat Punk profusely with it and John Cena was forced to watch his WWE Championship slip through his hands.
After the match, and the cell was being raised, Miz and R-Truth, who had previously beat up the tag team champs back stage would run down and destroy everyone in the ring. As the cell was lowered, Truth and Miz  were allowed to do as much damage as they wanted. The entire WWE locker room and the local police came down but no one could get in the cell. After the door was unlocked, the two were arrested. As they were being escorted, Triple H shoved Johnny Ace out of his way as he ran to the two and beat on them until they were escorted out of the arena.
